WrightSim

Immersive and Interactive 1903 Wright Flyer Simulation (Beta)

Our Scenario

WrighSim is a realistic Flight Simulator which provides participants with an opportunity to fly a Flight Simulation of the 1903 Wright Flyer, the world’s first powered, and controlled airplane. This immersive and interactive flight simulation mimic’s the aerodynamics of the actual 1903 flight, and includes realistic weather, scenery, and sound effects. WrightSim was developed in support of the 100th anniversary of flight celebration.

WrightSim was made possible through generous support from the NASA Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate (ARMD). NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) provided WrightSim project management, WrightSim design, and technical expertise in the areas of the Wright Brothers and Wright Flyer history. Glenn Research Center’s Advanced Graphics and Visualization (G-Vis) Lab developed the WrightSim Software.

System Requirements

Windows Vista, XP, or 2000
Pentium 4/2.4 GB or Better
Open-gl Graphics card w/min. 128 MB onboard memory or better
Joystick and Mouse

Future Enhancements:

WrightSim only runs on a PC-Compatible Workstation. A Mac version is currently not planned.
