LEWIS' EDUCATIONAL AND COLLABORATIVE
FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
-
Note: The
deadline for the 2001 program has passed.
Program Description
Fellowships of a 10-week duration for secondary science and
math teachers are available during the summer at the NASA
Glenn Research Center, Cleveland, OH. The fellowships are
offered under the auspices of Lewis' Educational and Collaborative
Internship Program (L.E.R.C.I.P.), a collaborative undertaking
by the Educational Programs Office and the Ohio Aerospace
Institute (OAI).
-
The fellowships are intended to provide teachers with professional
experiences to enhance their academic skills and abilities in
the classroom. Teachers are given assignments in research and
development areas under the mentorship of NASA professional staff
members.
Teachers are integrated into the day-to-day activities of the
Center to the greatest extent possible. A certain amount of time
is devoted to a program of scheduled educational, profession,
and social events.
Eligibility
Fellowships are available to U.S. citizens who are employed
full-time as secondary school teachers, and are able to serve
the entire tenure.
Application
Formal application is required. All teachers are required to serve
a tenure period of 10 weeks. The period requested generally has
no effect on selection. Fellowships do not provide for vacation
time and such time should be scheduled outside the tenure period.

and who relocate for the program. Reimbursement is based on shortest-route
