NASA CENTRAL OPERATION
OF RESOURCES FOR EDUCATORS (CORE)
NASA's Central Operation of Resources for Educators
(CORE) is a worldwide distribution center for NASA's audiovisual educational
materials.
For a minimal fee, NASA CORE will provide educators unable to visit one of the NASA Educator Resource Centers with materials through its mail order service. NASA Educator Resource Centers are located at the NASA Field Centers and in selected museums, libraries, planetariums, and universities throughout the United States. Educational materials available from NASA CORE include: videotape programs, slide programs, CD-ROM's laserdiscs, and instructional activities that can be used by educators of all disciplines. These materials are designed to increase awareness and understanding of NASA's scientific research and technology, and provide a historical account of NASA's accomplishments. NASA's multitude of educational materials can supplement classroom instruction in the curriculum areas of: science, physical science, space science, and Earth science, mathematics, technology, geography, history and career education. NASA CORE is jointly sponsored by NASA's Education Division in Washington, D.C., and the Lorain County Joint Vocational School in Oberlin, Ohio. NASA provides the educational materials, and the school is responsible for the daily operations of the mail order service. Many vocational school students work in the CORE office to develop valuable job training. Educators may receive a catalog and order form by contacting the NASA CORE office.
